The summer transfer window is rapidly approaching and once Premier League survival is secure Southampton will no doubt look how he can build his team.

The rumors and news are slowing starting to build up and before we know it we will be waist deep in transfer news and rumors. For now, here are three updates regarding Saint news on players possibly coming in and those who decided to stay.

The first comes from footballinsider247.com in regards to Southampton transfer target, Che Adams. The striker was linked with a move to the South Coast over the January window but nothing ever came from that.

dark. Next. Saints’ £6m spending on agents fees is shrewd business

Now, it is being reported the Saints are still interested in the goal scorer but face heavy competition in the shape of, Everton. This is bad news for the Saints because Everton will easily be able to outbid them in pursuit of Adams.

Adams seems to be a hot commodity and Ralph Hasenhuttl will have his handful if he is to convince the youngster he should come to the South Coast.

More from Saints Marching

The next bit of news deals with our own, Maya Yoshida. According to the Daily Echo, the defender has revealed he turned down a big-money move to Saudi Arabia this summer because he wants to stay with Southampton.

Maya said, “In the last window, there was interest in me from Saudi Arabia, but I don’t want work for money.” As a fan, this is extremely encouraging to see. Hearing that players are happy at Southampton and want to stay here (even for less money) means the club is doing something right.

Hopefully, this sentiment is felt amongst the majority of players and they will not be looking to move from the South Coast at the drop of a hat.

Finally, the Daily Mail has reported that Rangers midfielder Scott Arfield is a target for Hasenhuttl over the summer after a solid season in the Scottish Premiership.

The 30-year-old midfielder has scored 11 goals this season and 8 assists and it has caught the eye of the Saints. The Canadian international will likely only cost around £3million and would add solid experience and leadership in the midfield if he happens to join Saints.

This summer is certainly shaping up to be an interesting one and big one for the future success of Southampton.
