Southampton: Two players rumored to be linked with Saints in summer
With safety secured we’re now able to look ahead and ask, what’s next? The rumors are going to swirl and here are two that’ve been linked with Southampton.
Hasenhuttl, has a “shopping list” this offseason and the qualifiers for that list are pace and youth and these first two fit the bill. They are strikers who possess the pace the Austrian is looking for and are young enough that he will be able to shape and mold them into the players he wants.
The first he has already worked with and it is, Jean-Kevin Augustin from RB Leipzig. According to Kicker.de the 21-year-old striker is linked to his former manager after not playing much this season. The young Frenchman has only scored 3 goals this season on only 13 appearances. He fell beneath players like Timo Werner and Yussuf Poulsen in the pecking order.
After a frustrating season, Augustin may be looking for a fresh start and that fresh start may be on the South Coast of England with his former manager who he scored 9 goals and added 5 assists the season prior. In addition, with the emergence of Yussuf Poulsen, Leipzig will most likely be more willing to let go of their young striker this summer.

Transfermarkt.co.uk lists his value at £18m which would not break the bank for a club like Southampton and could be a very value transfer for the Saints.
The second player is Che Adams and according to the Daily Mail, the Saints have revamped their interest in the Birmingham youngster. The 22-year-old, scored 22 goals this season in the Championship and has drawn a lot of the attention from many Premier League sides.
The move will apparently cost around £15m and the South Coast squad will face competition in signing the striker from Burnley and newly-promoted Norwich. All the clubs will probably be able to make competing offers but hopefully the allure of playing for a manager like Hasenhuttl will be enough for Adams to push for a move to the Saints.
I believe both to these strikers are solid options for the team and would excel under Ralph. Neither would break the bank and have the pace and finishing to succeed where our other strikers do not. I would suspect we only sign one of the two but would not be shocked if we managed to sign both.
The board seem like they are ready to back Hasenhuttl and return to finishing comfortable on the table and not fighting for our lives.
