A big summer clearout is expected at Southampton this summer as Ralph Hasenhuttl shapes his squad of players.

Recent links have seen two fringe players mentioned as summer targets for other clubs as their preparations for next season get underway.

Harrison Reed spent the 2018/19 campaign on-loan at Blackburn Rovers and it appears that another Lancashire club are interested in signing him permanently.

According to the Daily Mail, both Burnley and the 24-year-old’s former loan club Norwich City are fighting for his signature this summer.

A talented and energetic midfielder that seemed capable of making more of an impression with Saints, Reed made 36 appearances for Blackburn in all competitions during the past season.

He has proved himself in the English second-tier and played a variety of different positions for both Rovers and Norwich in the past two campaigns.

More from Saints Marching

His style of play could suit the way that Ralph Hasenhuttl wants his Saints side to play and it remains to be seen whether Reed will get a chance to impress in pre-season.

Another player who looks like being on the way out of St Mary’s this summer is striker Guido Carrillo.

The Argentine was Saints’ club-record signing when he joined in January 2018 but spent the 2018/19 season on loan at Spanish La Liga side Leganes.

According to an exclusive report from Doble Amarilla, the 28-year-old could be in line for a move back to his homeland with Boca Juniors this summer.

Carrillo started his career in the Argentine top-flight with Estudiantes before moving to Europe with Monaco.

His style of play is unlikely to be suited to the way that Hasenhuttl wants his forwards to perform and Saints may well be looking to get some money back from an expensive transfer overall.

They will probably need to take a loss on the original £19m they paid Monaco to sign him but any funds that they do recoup can be put towards vital incoming transfers this summer.

Carrillo scored six La Liga goals for Leganes in 2018/19 and his spell there saw him link up with former Saints boss Mauricio Pellegrino.
