Two of Southampton’s Premier League games during the 2019/20 season are set to be streamed live on Amazon Prime.

The technology giant Amazon won one of the top-flight broadcasting packages starting in the coming season and running for three years.

It was reported that the company paid £90m to show 10 fixtures from a midweek round in December and the full 10 on Boxing Day.

This means that Saints’ home meeting with promoted side Norwich City will be live on Amazon Prime and played on either the 3rd, 4th or 5th of December.

Then their trip to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge will also be shown via the same platform on Boxing Day around three weeks later.

Saints fans who are living in England and are unable to get to games will be hoping that they can see their team on UK television more times than in 2018/19.

They were featured on Sky and BT just 10 times during the last campaign – a joint Premier League low along with Watford, Bournemouth and Huddersfield.

Both Sky and BT remain the holders of the main rights deals though.

Sky’s four packages entitle them to 32 matches on Saturdays at 5:30pm, 24 on Sunday at 2pm, eight on Saturdays at 7:45pm, 32 on Sundays at 4:30pm, 24 on Mondays or Fridays and another eight on Sundays at 2pm.

BT have two packages currently that see them with 32 matches on Saturdays at 12:30pm and 20 further games from two midweek programmes.
