Southampton: Five midfielders Saints have been linked with this summer

David Turnbull

Saints were said to be tracking Motherwell star David Turnbull earlier this month along with a host of other clubs, according to the Daily Record.

The report stated that the 19-year-old would command a relatively risk-free fee of around £3m after a superb season in Scotland.

He scored 16 times and assisted seven further goals from midfield in 34 games for Motherwell to prove his quality to any suitors.

It was said that Norwich were close to signing Turnbull, but it now looks like Celtic are back as frontrunners to secure his signature.
