Southampton: Saints and Wolves links to Milan’s Andre Silva dismissed
By Marc Walker
Claims that Southampton and Wolves were interested in signing AC Milan striker Andre Silva have been dismissed as false.
A report from Gazetta Dello Sport this morning said that Saints had made an offer to take the Portuguese international on an 18-month loan deal with an option to buy for 18m euros.
Wolves were also said to have been readying an offer in January, but links for both Premier League clubs to the 23-year-old have now been denied.
BBC Radio Solent’s Adam Blackmore – with close ties to Saints – said that any mentions of a move for Silva were ‘100% not true’, whilst a report from the Daily Echo echoed those thoughts.
Journalist Alex Crook also confirmed this whilst also rubbishing the links to Wolves too.
Silva spent the 2018/19 season on-loan at La Liga side Sevilla and scored 11 times in 40 matches to help his temporary club to a 6th-placed finish.
A superb first season of senior football with Porto saw his stock rise after 21 goals in all competitions.

This led to a 38m euro transfer to Milan, but he didn’t live up to expectations in his first season and was therefore loaned out to Sevilla.
Saints are unlikely to need another striker before the transfer window shuts and the upcoming season gets underway.
They completed the £16m signing of Che Adams from Birmingham City on Monday, whilst Danny Ings is now a Saints player permanently after joining from Liverpool.
Adams and Ings will most likely be first-choice, whilst Ralph Hasenhuttl can also call upon Shane Long and Michael Obafemi.
It appears that Charlie Austin will leave the club with many reports linking him with moves away, and the same fate may await Sam Gallagher with Championship interest in him.
The Silva link to Wolves seemed to be a lot more plausible after their signings of Portuguese internationals in the past two years.
They may be looking to sign a striker this summer to ease the workload on Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota, but it now looks unlikely that will be Silva.
