Southampton: Che Adams says Saints winning the Premier League title is achievable
By Marc Walker
New Southampton signing Che Adams has said that winning the Premier League title is achievable at St Mary’s following his £16m move from Birmingham City.
Saints’ pursuit of the 22-year-old was well-documented and they managed to secure a deal for the exciting striker on Monday.
With much of his career still ahead of him and a lot to prove in the top-flight, Adams says that there is no limitation on what he and his new teammates can do in this coming season.
Speaking to southamptonfc.com, he said:
"“It’s a huge club like I said. We want to win the league; obviously it’s a lot to ask for but you have to set new targets for yourself to hit. With the squad here the I’ve seen from last season, there’s no reason why we can’t”."
It would certainly be an amazing feat if Saints were to get anywhere near the title in 2019/20.
Whilst the positive football has returned under Ralph Hasenhuttl and the future for the club looks brighter once again, only one team of their size has become champions.

Leicester City’s superb triumph in the 2015/16 season surprised everyone and created a Premier League fairytale that is unlikely to ever be matched.
However, there can be some inspiration from what Saints achieved in that campaign too.
Ronald Koeman’s side produced some great football and impressive results against the top-six to eventually finish the season in sixth place.
They and Leicester were perhaps helped by poor showings from Chelsea and Liverpool, who ended up in 10th and 8th respectively.
However, their lapses still needed to be taken advantage of and both Saints and the Foxes did that brilliantly well.
With Manchester United and Arsenal seemingly dropping below the other top-six sides at the moment, perhaps there may be an opportunity that arises in the coming season.
The closest side to sneaking inside the top-six in 2018/19 were Wolves as they qualified for the Europa League qualifying stages by ending the season in 7th.
In terms of the title though, it would be difficult to see past any of the usual suspects being in contention still in May.
The lowest odds on Saints winning their first Premier League title are 750/1, which sees them as 14th favourite overall.
