Strikers and Substitutes

Danny Ings, Striker – 4

A poor all-around game from Ings after being restored to the starting 11. Received two chances on the ball inside in the box in the first half and neither resulted in a shot.  Tried to direct Che in his movement, but pushed him away from the ball, and never connected with his partner.  Missed picking out a Ward-Prowse run with a pass that would have been the Saints’ best chance in the first half.  Did switch the field to Djenepo, picking up the assist.  However, he was not effective and got in the way more than he created.

Che Adams, Striker – 6

Barely involved in the first half.  Did receive the ball with his back to goal and we were all looking for a turn and strike, but he laid it off.  He was making runs behind the line, but his teammates rarely looked over top, i.e. Gabbiadini.  Ball fell to Adams in 66th from a corner, but it was hard to expect it getting there.  Still looking for his first goal, but it will come sooner rather than later.

Moussa Djenepo, Substitute, Attacking Midfielder – 8

Subbed on in the 53rd, scored his first ever Premier League goal in the 55th.  What a memorable goal it was too!  He is a difference maker, and Hasenhuttl has to get credit for bringing him on early.  Even defended well late in the game.  Maybe a start midweek?

Sofiane Boufal, Substitute, Attacking-Midfielder – 8

Another amazing impact substitute!  Picked up the assist to seal the game, finding Redmond on the far post.  Flashed his unbelievable feet in his own half and drove the ball forward late in the game setting up a free kick.  Imagine defending this guy after the 75th minute.  Saints fans are probably riding a high following this performance.

Stuart Armstrong, Substitute, Attacking-Midfielder – N/A

Surprising he was Ralph’s final sub considering there were two defenders on the bench.  Had little time to make an impact, but it would be a good bet to see him start at Fulham.
