Southampton: Saints duo set for deadline day moves to Europe
By Marc Walker
The transfer window closes for European and Football League clubs today and Southampton are still looking to offload a couple of players.
They will be looking to end the summer transfer saga that has followed Mario Lemina, whilst defender Wesley Hoedt is also reportedly set to join a European club.
The Daily Echo is reporting that Lemina is close to completing a season-long loan move to Turkish Super League outfit Galatasaray.
He has been linked with no less than 11 clubs (by our calculations) during this summer transfer window but it appears that it will be a temporary move only for the 26-year-old.
Hoedt is said to be closing in on a loan move to Belgian side Antwerp in the same report, but the centre-back could have an option to buy inserted in his deal.
With Ralph Hasenhuttl having a thorough sort out of his squad this summer, many of the fringe players contracted to Saints have left the club.
However, loan deal have been a real theme as suitors for their players do not want to commit to permanent signings.

Of course, this is entirely the fault of Saints. Many – if not all of these players – have underperformed in England and aren’t attractive to other sides any more.
If Lemina and Hoedt secure moves away, they will join no less than six players out on loans during the 2019/20 season.
Fraser Forster and Mohamed Elyounoussi have both joined Scottish Champions Celtic, whilst Harrison Reed and goalkeeper Jack Rose are at Football League clubs Fulham and Walsall respectively.
Josh Sims looks set for a good spell for development in the MLS with New York Red Bulls, and £19m man Guido Carrillo is spending the campaign at Leganes.
Making signings proved more difficult than it should have been this summer, and this was purely because of the inflated wage bill that Saints currently have.
They did manage to shift out Charlie Austin, Matt Targett and Sam Gallagher on permanent deals, whilst Jordy Clasie and Steven Davis left on free transfers.
