Midfielders
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Central-Midfield – 6
Busy as always but he and Romeu need to find a way to feed the attackers in central, dangerous areas instead of out wide. Forced good save from Lloris early on.
Oriol Romeu, Central-Midfield – 6
Heavily involved in the centre and quickly becoming a must in the Saints line-up. Provides control, but more risk needed at times, much like Hojbjerg.
James Ward-Prowse, Right-Midfield – 5
Started wide on the right but backtracking clearly isn’t his strong point. Moved into central-midfield in second-half and very unlucky to see a superb free-kick effort tipped over.
Ryan Bertrand, Left-Midfield – 7
Busy down the left and undoubtedly the best man to play at Left-Back in the current Saints squad.
Sofiane Boufal, Attacking-Midfield – 6
Clever and bright at times but ultimately not quite enough. Played centrally in first-half and could be a good role for him in the future.
