Midfielders

Ryan Bertrand – Left-wing back: 6.5

The Englishman, really enjoys making bombing runs forward and this game was no exception. He made 2 key passes in the match and even managed to get a shot of within the box. The end product for Saints is still missing but if they start putting in goals more regularly Bertrand will need to be a part of that.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – Midfielder: 7.0

Pierre, was everywhere on the pitch Saturday and was making this happen both offensively and defensively. Another player who needed a positive performance after a string of not so good ones. It was good to see the Captain play like we all know he can again.

Oriol Romeu – Midfielder: 6.5

Romeu, has been one of the bright spots this season but this was not his best performance. He simply just did not contribute much in terms of going forward and was a little sloppy at times on the defensive side. I am sure he will bounce back and this was a one off performance.

Yan Valery – Right-wing back: 6.5

The youngster got another start in place of the injured Cedric and really did not do a whole lot to impress. He did not get very many touches on the ball and picked up an early yellow card that could have impacted his performance because he was playing more tentatively. Hopefully, he can regain his form from last season soon.
