Manager, Goalkeeper and Defenders

Ralph Hasenhuttl, Manager – 4

Once again, his players didn’t do what was asked of them. However, his starting side had players out of position and his subs came too late.

Play players in positions where they are comfortable and that will help them a great deal.

Alex McCarthy, Goalkeeper – 5

Made a couple of decent saves when he had to but didn’t look confident.

Jan Bednarek, Centre-Back – 4

Not his best day at all and communication with teammates seemed an issue at time.

Jack Stephens, Centre-Back – 6

Has his critics but looked the only player capable of leading in defence and tried to move Saints forward.

Jannik Vestergaard, Centre-Back – 4

Slow and ponderous, but made some decent challenges in the second-half.
