Southampton 2-1 Watford: Three Key Moments that decided the game
By Marc Walker
Boufal introduced
Sofiane Boufal has shown bright moments since returning to St Mary’s at the beginning of this season but has had to make do mostly with a place on the bench.
However, his impact as a substitute cannot be denied and this proved to be the same on Saturday evening.
Hasenhuttl called for his Moroccan winger to replace Nathan Redmond in the 57th minute and from that moment Saints looked a lot more dangerous in attack.
Boufal could have had an assist after a jinking run set up Shane Long just yards out, whilst his bamboozled a number of Watford men when taking them on one-on-one.
With Danny Ings’ importance to Saints in goalscoring terms, players such as Boufal, Moussa Djenepo and Nathan Redmond performing to the best of their abilities and feeding the front man will be so important to Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side.
