January is here and the rumors are starting to swirl for teams all-around Europe as they look to improve and Southampton are no exception.

The recent form the club has found themselves in may have calmed some of the panic when it comes to bringing in reinforcements this January but there are still needs that have to be addressed if they wish to finish the season well above the drop zone.

The biggest area of concern has to be at the full-back positions and more specifically the right side. It has been said that Hasenhuttl will have a budget of around £30m to help strengthen the side.  With that said let us take a look at the two latest rumors surrounding Southampton Football Club

Another Loan Deal for Sims?

Josh Sims, who at one point looked to have a bright future at the club, looks to be on the brink of another short-term loan deal. A new report from Football Insider has linked both Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield are keen on bringing in the pacey winger on-loan to help bolster their attack.

New York Red Bulls are also interested in bringing the player back to the United States and will compete with the Championship sides to get him.

The two championship sides are on opposite sides of the spectrum. Huddersfield, are looking to avoid back-to-back relegations as they are currently floating around the bottom of the table. Their attack is very poor and a player with Sims ability could really thrive in the Championship.

More from Saints Marching

As for Sheffield Wednesday, they are currently in 8th on the Championship Table and only 2 points off of a playoff spot. They do not necessarily have a goal scoring issue but a player like Sims will bring depth and a bit of excitement to the side.

Whatever the outcome, it is safe to say Sims will not remain with Saints for the remainder of the season. He is still just 22 so it would be wrong of me to say he has no future at the club but the more time that passes the more and more likely it becomes he will eventually be sold to another club.

Time for a new Striker?

The Daily Mail have linked Southampton with a French Ligue 2 striker who has scored 17 goals in 19 games so far this season.

Tino Kadewere, is a forward who can play on the wings as well, is looking for a challenge and wants that challenge to be the Premier League.

He possess good pace and is a sound finisher and for a price tag of around £10m he could be a great option to add depth to our attack.

Currently, the Saints have 4 senior team strikers and 2 of them are still without goals on the season. I do not think Che Adams will go out on loan this January but with a lack of goals coming from all 3 of our other strikers it may be time to look for other options.

The Saints will face competition in the shape of Bournemouth, Lyon and Marseille for the Zimbabwean striker. He does prefer the Premier League and with a manager like Ralph Hasenhuttl in charge, Southampton could be an appealing option for the 23-year-old forward.
