Strikers and Substitutes

Danny Ings, Striker – 7

Ings returned to the starting eleven after being rested against Palace.  Had one clear chance in the first half which was cleared off the line by Tanganga, and it would have been a highlight reel goal.  Probably wondering how he did not score in this one, especially his open header from Redmond’s cross.  Still, a striker who finds that much space and opportunity, and set up the game-tying goal deserves some credit.

Michael Obafemi, Striker –  5

Very little to note in the first half.  Did not run enough off the ball and no link up with Ings.  Did find his partner one time at the near post, but having a hard time proving he is a better option than Long or Adams.

Moussa Djenepo, Substitute Attacking-Midfielder – 6

Called on early to replace the injured Stuart Armstrong.  Jumped right into it, getting fouled by Harry Winks.  Did not get enough of the ball and the team missed him long three times running up the left flank.  The single driving run he was given Djenepo found Ings whose touch bounced up on him.

Sofiane Boufal, Substitute Attacking-Midfielder – 7

Scored a huge goal with a first-time weak-footed strike set up by Danny Ings.  His celebration was a bit strange, but he was likely disappointed to not get selected for this match.  A true impact player against Spurs’ tired legs and will likely be the same against Liverpool.

Che Adams, Substitute Striker – N/A

Was given 15 plus minutes to help the team earn a replay.  Not much to note other than his single failed link up play with Danny Ings.  His lack of game time can be blamed for that poor touch on top of the 18.
