Southampton: Are Saints set to terminate defender’s contract?
By Marc Walker
Southampton are reportedly set to terminate Kevin Danso’s loan deal to allow him to look for another club this January.
According to Football Insider, the defender has attracted interest from clubs in both France and Germany and is ready to leave St Mary’s to get more first-team action.
The Austrian international joined Saints on a season-long loan deal in the summer but has only played 601 minutes for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side so far – those minutes coming in 10 appearances.
His parent club Augsburg could well be the club that profits most from this situation.
Given that Saints handed them a loan fee of around £3.6m (transfermarkt) to bring Danso in late in the summer, the Bundesliga side could be set for another decent payment from another club that wants him.
Danso will be remembered in the Premier League as possibly the latest signing ever after a transfer window closing.

Saints managed to get their man after handing in a deal sheet on transfer deadline day back in August, but confirmation of the deal was not confirmed until the day after.
The 21-year-old arrived with potential and an imposing 6ft 3in frame, but has failed to establish himself with Saints who will see this as a missed opportunity.
Danso played as a right-back, left-back and centre-back during his time with the club but was one of the players who suffered badly in the 9-0 league defeat to Leicester back in October – a moment to give anyone a knock in confidence.
Earlier in his career, Danso grew up in England and played for the younger youth teams at MK Dons before switching to Augsburg in 2014.
However, transfer business completed by Saints yesterday seems to have seen him become surplus to requirements now.
Kyle Walker-Peters arrived on a six-month loan from Spurs and will provide cover for the right-back and left-back roles, whilst Cedric is set to complete a move to Arsenal before the transfer window closes tomorrow.
