Southampton: The games to be rearranged after Coronavirus suspension

The Premier League, Football Association, English Football League and the Women’s Super League all confirmed this morning that professional football in England will be postponed until early April.

This news comes with a number of newly diagnosed cases of the Coronavirus within the game.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was confirmed to have the disease yesterday evening in an official statement released by the Gunners, whilst Chelsea player Callum Hudson-Odoi was diagnosed this morning.

This has led to both clubs joining the list of those self-isolating and staying away from their respective training grounds.

Both Leicester City and Bournemouth are said to have had multiple players experiencing symptoms of Coronavirus too, leaving the governing bodies of football in this country with no choice but to postpone fixtures for around three weeks at least.

Southampton were due to be playing Norwich City away from home this weekend but this suspension has meant that this fixture will have to be rearranged later in the year.

So far, that is the only Premier League fixture involving Saints that will be affected. However, further matches could be postponed depending on the next steps taken by the government as the Coronavirus situation evolves in England.

The suspension of football also includes academy and women’s matches too though, so here is a list of all the fixtures involving Saints teams that will now have to have a new date:
