Danny Ings vs Spurs home

If ever there was ever going to be a moment that showed just how confident Ings was feeling on New Years’ Day, this was it.

Again it was Jack Stephens with the assist to prove that his ability with the ball at his feet is underrated, but it was Ings who sparked into life when the ball drifted over the Spurs backline.

The way that Saints’ top scorer set himself up was the most impressive part here though – channelling his inner Paul Gascoigne to flick the ball over Toby Alderweireld after beating him to the ball before calmly volleying inside the near post.

This was an important goal for Saints and is perhaps Ings’ best goal from his 18 in all competitions in 2019/20, although Saints fans would probably rate his double at Fratton Park higher in their eyes.
