Southampton: Saints defender shocks fans with picture of new haircut
By Marc Walker
Southampton defender Jan Bednarek has shocked Saints fans by sharing a picture of his new haircut on social media.
The Coronavirus has forced hairdressers and barbers all over the world to shut their doors momentarily to halt the spread of infection.
Now it seems that Polish international Bednarek has taken drastic action to combat the situation.
As we can see via a tweet from the official Saints Twitter account below, the 24-year-old has shaved all of his hair off and appears to be channelling the looks of his teammate Oriol Romeu.
This new style will be quite a surprise to Saints fans, Bednarek’s teammates and potentially the attackers that the defender faces once the 2019/20 Premier League season restarts.
2019/20 has been another season of steady progress for Bednarek and he will expect to be a mainstay in Ralph Hasenhuttl’s team when the Premier League season restarts – potentially a the beginning of June.

It is still very early in his career and he has a few more years to improve before he reached his peak, but the fact that he has started all but three of Saints’ games this campaign shows the belief that the club have in him.
Bednarek has been partnered at the centre of the backline with many different players since joining from Lech Poznan, and that has also been the case this year.
A back five/three and a back four have been utilised by Hasenhuttl since August and this has seen Bednarek play at least once with each of Jack Stephens, Jannik Vestergaard, Maya Yoshida and Kevin Danso.
The fact that he has been the consistent factor for most of the season shows his consistency as a player too.
The Poland international has a great ability to make blocks and tackles with excellent timing when he needs to, and the original £5m fee that Saints paid for him back in 2017 can be considered a bargain now.
His new trim may not be so appealing, but Saints will know they have a talent on their hands.
