Southampton: Saints likely to be on free-to-air TV in final PL games
By Marc Walker
Southampton are likely to be shown on free-to-air TV when they return to action and complete their 2019/20 season in June.
The Premier League confirmed on Thursday that the remaining league fixtures to be played in the top-flight would begin on 17th June, with Saints back in action between 19th-21st.
Now it has been confirmed how fans will be able to see Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men play out their final matches on TV.
As the owners of the biggest Premier League television rights package, Sky Sports will show 64 of the final 92 games that are left to play. Given the current situation though, they will be showing 25 of those on free-to-air channels.
BT Sport are the other main holders of rights in the UK and will screen 20 games between now and August – when the season is expected to finish.
Amazon Prime will show four of the 92, but the most important announcement comes via the BBC.
Four games will also be shown by them on free channels, meaning that fans will be able to see 29 fixtures without owning a subscription to Sky, BT or Amazon.

A full run down of the costs of seeing all 92 remaining games is reported to be around £117.98 by the Daily Mail.
What Saints fans will want to know is whether they will be able to see their team play from their own living rooms with not supporters allowed in English stadiums at the moment due to the Coronavirus.
Via the southamptonfc.com website, we can see that Sky Sports will screen Saints’ home meeting with Arsenal. Other than that, things are unclear.
What we can expect though is that each team will be shown on free-to-air stations at least once, if not twice.
Sky and BT are likely to have the main choice on the main games left in the race for the title, European qualification or to avoid relegation.
Hopefully for us Saints fans, they won’t be sucked into a relegation scrap and will gain the points needed to get to the magic 40 mark as soon as possible.
With top six teams left to play as well as those still in the battle at the bottom though, there are still some high drama games left to be played.
