Southampton: Report reveals where Saints want to add in transfer window
By Marc Walker
A report has confirmed where Southampton are looking to strengthen as they head into the summer transfer window.
According the Daily Echo’s Dan Sheldon, Saints want to add a right-back as soon as possible to add to the defensive options that Ralph Hasenhuttl has available to him ahead of next season.
The article states that the club are confident of bringing in a player in this position in the near future with domestic seasons in other European countries already cancelled.
Saints still have the remainder of their 2019/20 campaign to play out and they get back underway on 19th June against Norwich City.
Any players that they do sign whilst the English season is still going will not be eligible to play in the remaining nine games but will become options in pre-season ahead of 2020/21.
The fact that the Echo state that Saints are targeting a player whose league has been curtailed gives us a few clues as to who it may be.

The most recent full-back linked with a move to St Mary’s was Groningen man Deyovaisio Zeefuik – the Dutch Eredivisie season was ended back in late April.
He would be both a player of great potential and raw talent, and would also be relatively cheap for Saints in a tough time where they have money tied up elsewhere.
Zeefuik is a Dutch youth international and would have the perfect manager in Ralph Hasenhuttl to oversee his development as a defender. As a graduate of the famous Ajax youth academy, he certainly could become a real talent in the Premier League.
A right-back who has been linked with Saints over man years is Genk’s Joakim Maehle. He is another young player of potential who could grow with the club should he choose to move this off-season.
Belgium’s Jupiler League season was also ended in April, but it must be said that transfer windows in England, the Netherlands and Belgium must be agreed on before anything can happen.
Saints currently have Kyle Walker-Peters on-loan from Spurs but it now seems as though he will return to North London once the 2019/20 campaign is completed.
