It appears that Southampton are not interested in signing Spurs full-back Kyle Walker-Peters permanently once his loan spell at St Mary’s ends.

According to a report from the Times, Spurs will look to offload a number of senior players to partially fund a move for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. One of these is Walker-Peters, but the article suggests that Saints do not want him permanently.

Because of the Coronavirus pandemic, the 23-year-old has only made one appearance for Saints in their 2-1 loss to Burnley back in February.

He has extended his deal to remains on the South Coast until the end of the 2019/20 campaign and will surely play a part in the final nine games that are left.

However, it appears that he may well be playing to impress other clubs rather than Saints.

This could of course have a number of positives.

Motivation to work a move away from Spurs and find another club who want to buy him may push Walker-Peters onto some impressive performances up until August.

More from Saints Marching

Having him in the side could increase the level of team performance that Saints are capable of as they look to fully confirm their place in the Premier League for 2020/2021.

If things go really well, there is always a chance that Saints may change their mind – especially if other targets they have in mind go to other clubs.

Groningen man Deyovaisio Zeefuik has been heavily mentioned recently and it looks like Saints will be battling Hertha Berlin to secure his signature.

There is a chance that he may choose to move to the German capital over the South Coast of England though, so this will mean that other targets have to be pursued.

In actual fact, there seems to be little between Zeefuik and Walker-Peters in terms of their careers to date. Both have experience of playing for big clubs in Ajax and Spurs respectively.

However, there is a big difference in terms of height (6ft 1in compared to 5ft 8in), and that may be something that has made Saints sway towards their target in the Netherlands.
