Ryan Bertrand

Bertrand joined Saints permanently from Chelsea in January 2015 after spending the first half of the 2014/15 campaign on loan at St Mary’s.

He has gone on to make 200 appearances in all in red and white stripes and become a mainstay in defence in the process.

Saints fans often find him hard to work out and his performances have slipped a little since his early days on the South Coast, but it appears that those inside the club know his value at this time.

It looks as though Saints will be offering the 30-year-old a new contract soon – partly to retain his experience in a squad of young players, and partly to maintain the makeup of the current team in what could be an insecure upcoming transfer market.
