Southampton: Saints reveal striking new 2020/21 kits in unique way
By Marc Walker
Southampton revealed the striking designs of their new home and third kits for the 2020/21 season on Wednesday – but not in the usual way.
Modern day football is awash with imaginative kit releases, with entertaining videos and announcements coming in all forms.
After last year’s play on the Fyre Festival storyline that saw manager Ralph Hasenhuttl and some of the Saints squad involved in a short video documentary, Saints have decided to create a mobile game this year.
You can play the “Defying the odds since 1885” game via this link (https://www.southamptonfc.com/news/2020-07-08/southampton-fc-202021-kit-defying-the-odds-since-1885), with your character facing three separate levels and picking up next season’s socks, shorts and shirt in the process.
Each level also represents a different part of history in Southampton – both in the City and at the football club with the Dell and St Mary’s featuring.
It appears that most Saints fans are happy with the final designs that will be released ahead of the next campaign.

Via the Saints Marching Twitter account, our poll shows that around 79% of voters rate the new kit as “good” or “superb”.
The 21st November this year will see the football club reach its 135th anniversary and the new kit designs are another throwback to the first ever shirt that Saints wore back in 1885.
Their first ever strip was white with a red sash across, and this was replicated in the club’s 125th anniversary season back in 2010/11 when they achieved promotion from League One.
Now Saints will wear a similar shirt again, although it will be mostly red with a white sash this time around. The third kit will be white with a red sash and feature a gold LD Sports logo instead of a blue one.
A design for the away kit is yet to be released but is due to come in early August once Saints’ 2019/20 season is over.
If you want a better look at the new releases then the home and third kits are now available for pre-order via southamptonfc.com.
