Manager, Goalkeeper and Defenders

Ralph Hasenhuttl, Manager – 7

Stuck with the same starting 11 despite the distance Saints covered vs Man City but his choice was proved right. Perhaps could have more subs and made more changes earlier to improve the chances of his side winning.

Alex McCarthy, Goalkeeper – 7

Decent distribution and a very good save to deny Alex Iwobi in the first-half.

Kyle Walker-Peters, Right-Back – 8

Excellent. A real threat down the right when pushing up to support the attack and Saints simply must make an offer for him this summer.

Jan Bednarek, Centre-Back – 6

Won six aerial duels up against Dominic Calvert-Lewin but lost Richarlison for the Everton equaliser. Made up partly for that with an excellent last ditch challenge to stop the Brazilian having a clear shot on goal.

Jack Stephens, Centre-Back – 6

A quiet game compared to some of his teammates but his ability to play out from the back is vital in setting up dangerous attacks for Saints.

Ryan Bertrand, Left-Back – 7

Becoming almost as effective in this system as Walker-Peters is. Found his fellow full-back in good positions with a couple of raking, cross-field passes.

Most touches and passes of any player playing in this game.
