Southampton vs Spurs team news: Saints could welcome back key man
By Marc Walker
Southampton will look to put in a performance similar to the showings that they put in at the end of last season when they meet Spurs on Sunday.
Two losses to Crystal Palace and Brentford at the beginning of 2020/21 have seen poor displays that have only emphasised the lack of match fitness that Saints currently have.
Although it is only two games, they will need to get back on track soon in order to start picking up some early season points.
Spurs are in a tricky situation with so many games coming thick and fast in the next two weeks and they will need to recover from a midweek trip to Bulgaria in time for tomorrow’s fixture.
Some rotation can be expected from Jose Mourinho given that his side have to play on Tuesday and Thursday too and Saints will want to seize their opportunity.

Team news from Ralph Hasenhuttl has confirmed that Nathan Redmond will be out of this game after picking up an ankle injury against Brentford on Wednesday.
However, Stuart Armstrong could come back into the matchday squad after a thigh problem and summer signing Mohammed Salisu could also claim a place on the bench.
Spurs will be without defender Japhet Tanganga for this game and full-back Serge Aurier will face a late fitness test to prove his availability for selection.
Some squad rotation is expected from Jose Mourinho and, although Gareth Bale is not fit to feature yet, Sergio Reguillon may play some part at St Mary’s.
