Southampton: Saints confirm outcome of Danny Ings’ knee scan
By Marc Walker
Southampton have confirmed that the results of Danny Ings’ knee scan were “favourable” and will continue to assess him throughout this coming week.
Via an official statement on the player’s situation from southamptonfc.com, it appears that the 28-year-old has not suffered a long-term injury and will be back in action sooner rather than later.
Ings has been a key player for Saints in the past year and has carried on his form from the 2019/20 season into this campaign.
He scored his fifth goal of 2020/21 in the 4-3 at Aston Villa but was then taken off after seemingly overstretching his knee when challenging for the ball.
Confirmation of a positive scan will be a huge relief to Ings himself, the Saints staff and the fans given that he has already missed a sizeable portion of his career through injury.

It remains to be seen when Ings will be back in action but it is probably unlikely that he will be available for this Friday’s meeting with Newcastle.
His potential absence will hand a chance to someone else to prove their worth and truly prove that Ralph Hasenhuttl has solid options to call upon when he needs them this season.
Che Adams has impressed recently and continues to be a vital part of the current setup.
He has two goals and two assists to his name in this Premier League campaign and provides great work rate to create openings for his teammates. Like in 2019/20, it is hoped that his two goals will now see him go on a run of consistent scoring.
The likes of Theo Walcott, Shane Long and Michael Obafemi are in line to fill in for Ings but the scoring burden may be handed to Adams for a game or two.
A win against Newcastle in four days’ time would see Saints top the Premier League table after an impressive start to the new season.
