Southampton make the trip to face Wolves on Monday evening and will be looking to continue the form that has them fourth in the Premier League table currently.

A six-game unbeaten run, including three straight wins up to now, has seen Saints hit some top form and prove themselves to be one of the most dangerous teams in the top-flight at the moment.

Wolves have performed well so far this campaign too and sit ninth in the table – well-placed at this stage to compete once again at the top end of the league come April/May time.

Last season saw two highly competitive meetings between these two teams, although it would be Wolves who took most points.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side claimed a 3-2 win at St Mary’s despite being 2-0 down, but Saints claimed a point from their visit to Molineux.

Ahead of Monday’s clash, there has been some interesting team news that could affect how the most recent meeting between the two sides goes.

Saints are likely to welcome back Ryan Bertrand after he missed the win over Newcastle before the international break with a hamstring injury.

James Ward-Prowse and Will Smallbone have also been training over the past two weeks after minor complaints of their own and could also be in contention to play at Molineux.

Theo Walcott injured his hand in the 2-0 victory over Newcastle but this will not stop him from playing a part in Saints’ next fixture.

Ralph Hasenhuttl also had news on Jannik Vestergaard, Jan Bednarek, Stuart Armstrong and Moussa Djenepo and stated that they have all returned without any injury problems of their own.

Danny Ings is set to return to action in December, but Mohammed Salisu is still not ready to make his debut yet (team news via southamptonfc.com).

Wolves could receive a huge boost ahead of hosting Saints with club captain Conor Coady set to be available after a spell of self-isolation following a Covid-19 scare.

He has not trained with his teammates recently due to his isolation but a report from the Telegraph has confirmed that he is expected to play.

Rayan Ait Nouri is set for a late fitness test ahead of this game, whilst Jonny Otto is the club’s only long-term absentee

Wolves boss Nuno has not revealed much in terms of team news but suggested that he may have some players to assess before confirming their place in his starting line-up for Monday.
