Southampton make the trip along the South Coast on Monday and will look to get back to winning ways in the Premier League when they face Brighton.

The game is set to see Saints play in front of fans for the first time in nine months, with 2,000 Brighton fans allowed into the AMEX Stadium after the start of the new tier system put in place by the UK government.

Saints will be looking to get points on the board once again after being hit by a second-half comeback by Manchester United in their last outing, whilst Brighton are on a solid three-match unbeaten run following their latest draw with Liverpool.

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side were victorious at the AMEX last season as goals from Moussa Djenepo and Nathan Redmond produced a 2-0 scoreline, but Brighton grabbed a point in the return fixture at St Mary’s with a 1-1 draw.

Ahead of the game, there has been some interesting team news that could affect the way the result goes in two days’ time.

More from Saints Marching

Saints have been boosted by news that both Danny Ings and Nathan Redmond could return to their matchday squad after respective knee and thigh problems recently.

Ralph Hasenhuttl confirmed in his pre-match press conference that both had returned to training this week and would be assessed ahead of any decisions on their availability.

Intriguingly for Saints fans, the Austrian also suggested that Mohammed Salisu could take a place in a matchday squad for the first time since signing from Real Valladolid in the summer transfer window.

Will Smallbone has also had fitness problems recently and could also be available for selection.

Brighton manager Graham Potter has been dealt a blow with news that Adam Lallana will miss Monday’s meeting with his former side. Fellow midfielder Davy Propper is also set to be out.

However, positive news on the fitness of Tariq Lamptey and Neal Maupay have them back in contention and potentially ready to take their places back in the Seagulls’ starting line-up.
