Midfielders

James Ward-Prowse, Central-Midfield – 8

Continues to be the energetic presence that Saints need in the centre of the pitch. Almost created openings on multiple occasions from set-pieces – goals from these could have seen a completely different game played out.

Oriol Romeu, Central-Midfield – 8

Everywhere, and that last-ditch tackle summed the Spaniard’s determination up. Saints will hope his ankle injury is not too serious.

Stuart Armstrong, Attacking-Midfield – 6

Not involved quite as much as Saints need him to be when they are lacking creativity.

Nathan Tella, Attacking-Midfield – 7

Showed that he can provide another attacking option for his side and was consistently positive on the ball. Awarded a penalty that was rightly ruled out by VAR.
