Southampton vs Brighton: Three Key Moments that decided the game

The Ketchup Keeps on Flowing
Hasenhüttl Recently compared the goalscoring form of Che Adams to that of “the ketchup bottle phenomenon”. The manager further explained (via the Daily Echo): “So a long time – nothing – then everything comes. I take it yeah!”.
A quirky turn of phrase it may be, but it would seem that the manager is spot on regarding his front man. After finding the net against Sheffield United last week Adams was at it again.
The Englishman would grant his team a temporary reprieve just before the half an hour mark. Despite failing to make headway with an initial corner, Saints managed to maintain possession and work the ball around for the perfect crossing opportunity.
Stuart Armstrong puts the ball back into the mix for Bertrand to win a header. The ball then somehow avoids the efforts of the Brighton defender and drops tantalizingly for Adams to Cooley convert from six yards out.
Frankly, the backline should have been able to deal with Bertrand’s hopeful header. Even so, it’s nice to see the number 10 capitalize on misjudgement, with good positional sense and a strong finish from close range.
Saints will need this poacher’s instinct if they are to make their league place secure as well as perhaps lifting an FA cup.
Sadly, the striker’s inconsistency would prove to haunt his employers as he would see a golden chance saved by the keeper. The second half strike was one of the few clear-cut chances Southampton would receive in the second half.
