Southampton’s fixtures for the 2021/22 Premier League season have been revealed and Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side will be facing Everton first up.

After kicking things off against the Toffees on 14th August, they then take on Manchester United, Newcastle, West Ham and Manchester City to round off their opening five games.

The final day, 22nd May 2022, will see Saints do battle with Leicester City, where they will hope to end on a high note.

Dates for the FA Cup and Carabao Cup rounds are yet to be confirmed. Premier League teams not involved in European competition will enter into the third-round of the former in January 2022 and face a midweek second-round tie in August 2021 in the latter.

More from Saints Marching

Saints will be hoping for more consistency overall this season after a very hot and cold 2020/21.

They started their schedule with an opening day loss to Crystal Palace but a brilliant run of form saw them competing near the top of the table, and they even reached the summit for two days.

Things were looking very promising and fans were dreaming of European qualification, but fortunes turned in January and Saints went without a Premier League win for two months.

Injuries proved a big problem as the settled side from the beginning of the campaign broke apart and some youngsters had to be thrown straight into the thick of the action. Signings this summer will hopefully mean more depth for Ralph Hasenhuttl to work with from August through to May this time around.

An eventual 15th-placed finish came about with more varied results and two losses to Leeds and West Ham to round the fixtures off.

This coming season, Saints will be facing three teams fresh from the Championship. Norwich and Watford have bounced straight back to the top-flight, whilst Brentford have ended their run of misfortune by finally confirming promotion via the play-offs.
