Southampton have confirmed their sixth piece of summer transfer business as young left-back Jake Vokins joins Scottish Premier League side Ross County.

Saints officially revealed this yesterday, shortly after announcing that Romain Perraud had completed his move to St Mary’s from Ligue 1 outfit Stade Brest.

The departure of Vokins allow him to get some first-team game time under his belt and develop his own ability, whilst his absence from the Saints squad this season will provide space for another full-back signing.

Alongside the links to Perraud, the club have had Barcelona’s Junior Firpo, Manchester United’s Brandon Williams and Liverpool’s Neco Williams mentioned as potential targets.

More transfer action surely to come for Southampton

Saints have signed two players so far in this off-season having announced the capture of Romain Perraud on Friday and the permanent arrival of Theo Walcott a little while back.

Both players will be involved in pre-season training that is due to start in this coming week.

More from Saints Marching

Saints are said to have received a small amount of money after Angus Gunn moved on to newly-promoted Norwich City and Wesley Hoedt joined Anderlecht.

Young defender Kayne Ramsay has chosen to join Crewe Alexandra on a season-long loan and Jake Vokins likewise, although he has taken the chance to play top-flight football in Scotland with Ross County.

Some space was also made in and around the squad with the release of 11 players. They included senior players Ryan Bertrand, Jake Hesketh and Josh Sims.

Bertrand is set to sign for Leicester City on a two-year deal, whilst Thomas O’Connor – also released – is a new arrival at Burton Albion having played some significant first-team games for Gillingham in the past two seasons.

Saints are likely to want at least one more full-back signing to provide depth and will also be targeting attacking signings. With the futures of Danny Ings and Jannik Vestergaard also undecided, it is possible they may need to be replaced.
