Manchester United

According to a report from the Athletic’s David Ornstein after Ings “turned down” Saints’ contract offer earlier this month, Manchester United are admirers of the striker.

Where he would fit in to OIe Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans is another matter though.

United are set to already have Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood amongst their options for the 2021/22 season and Ings may well find it hard to get minutes on the pitch with this competition.

Ings’ desire is to join a Champions League club in order to have one last attempt at playing top level football. To have the best experience of this, he surely needs to be getting some decent minutes on the pitch.

Given that they already have such high-quality options, United may not be the most likely destination for the Saints star this summer. Any signings that the Red Devils do make will also need to be valuable commercially, and it is unknown what value Ings would have to them in that regard.
