Manchester City

Reports from Sky Sports and Football Insider emerged in March and April respectively and suggested that City saw Ings as a potential replacement for the outgoing Sergio Aguero.

On paper, Ings and Aguero are similar players – clinical finishers when given a sniff of a chance around the penalty area and clever movement to create chances for themselves.

City will surely be looking for a more renowned name in world football to make more of a statement. Erling Haaland and Romelu Lukaku are two of the biggest names to be linked with Premier League clubs this summer.

Having lost someone of Aguero’s ability, City now have just Gabriel Jesus as a recognised striker. With Saints said to be holding out for around or over £25m for their star man, a deal could surely be done if all parties are keen.

With a fairly bulky squad and plenty of options, a move for Ings from City would be relatively risk free even with his past injury issues taken into account.
