Midfielders
James Ward-Prowse, Central-Midfielder – 4
Confident penalty and went close earlier in the game but he really did let his side down with his red card. Saints were otherwise in a strong position and had Chelsea penned in their own penalty box in that passage of play.
Oriol Romeu, Central-Midfielder – 6
A composed presence at times during the game but play certainly flew by him in the latter stages with a man less on the pitch.
Theo Walcott, Number 10 – 4
Bound to be rusty but Saints really do need more contribution on the pitch. Said to be a leader and able to provide top advice to youngsters but that cannot be the only reason to have him taking a squad place.
Squandered one of the best chances of the game in the first-half.
Nathan Tella, Number 10 – 6
Quite rightly given a chance and he did okay. The lack of creativity in the team right now could be due to Stuart Armstrong’s absence but giving Tella a run as a starter will only help too
