Ryan Manning, 26, would be a very sensible pick-up for Southampton on a free transfer.

The Irish international has recently been released from Swansea City following the expiry of his contract this summer.

Despite this, Manning has plenty of Championship experience that he has racked up with Swansea, Queens Park Rangers and Rotherham United.

The 26-year-old featured in 43 of the 46 Championship games for Swansea City this campaign whilst scoring five goals and contributing 10 assists, which is a fantastic return.

Manning has also worked with Russell Martin for two seasons and knows how the manager likes his team to play and what he expects from his players.

Therefore, Manning should be a no-brainer for Southampton on a free transfer this summer as he could bring a lot to the team next season.
