Thus, the Saints know that if they will bring a new manager to replace Russell Martin, they will again have to spend a significant transfer fee in the January transfer window to assemble a good squad in order to better adapt to the new tactical setup. Still, there isn't any assurance that Southampton will avoid relegation which was the situation last year.
