While Southampton's defence repeated a number of their previous Premier League mistakes against Ipswich Town, the attack continued their impressive form in this home match. Despite scoring only four goals in the previous seven matches, the Saints scored two goals for the first time in a league fixture this season.
Moreover, the midfield was also decent for a large part of the match as Russell Martin’s side came very close to a first league win. Therefore, on that note, here are the three standout Southampton stars from the last-minute 3-2 defeat against Leicester City.

Cameron Archer
Without a doubt, new £15 million signing Cameron Archer has been Southampton's most improved player in the previous two matches. Coming on the back of a good momentum after scoring his first Premier League goal for Southampton against Premier League title favourites Arsenal, Archer again gave a massive boost to Russell Martin’s side with the early goal.
Despite finishing being an issue for the 22-year-old a few weeks ago, Archer's positioning and decision making inside the final third is world-class. Archer made a smart run inside the Leicester City box and timed his run well to guide Ryan Manning's pass into the back of the net.
Archer spoke about the importance of his first goal against Arsenal, and now looks to play a key role in Southampton’s attack in their Premier League campaign.
