Galatasaray add Champions League finalist Yann Sommer to their wishlist, putting Ramsdale's transfer hopes to a halt.
It's been close to two months since Southampton's relegation was confirmed, forcing their exit from the Top Flight. But despite it being some time, the Premier League clubs, especially the London ones still haunt the Saints.
After giving Southampton a hard time throughout the season, the Londoners have been disrupting their summer plans lately. Yesterday, Fulham passed upon ex-Saint Walker-Peters and now it's Chelsea ace Petrovic who has influenced Galatasaray to explore options beyond Ramsdale.
And the result? The Turkish giants now have a hot name added to their summer wishlist as they eye Champions League Finalist Yann Sommer as their new keeper.
Recently, Transfer Expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed Galatasaray's interest, saying: "Yann Sommer, one of the names on Galatasaray list for new goalkeeper but not the only one."
Honestly, going by the look of things, nothing stands concrete between Galatasaray and Sommer. Yet that doesn't change Ramsdale's fears at all.
Yann Sommer braced to impact Ramsdale to Galatasaray hopes
That's because despite being showered with a Europa League compliment days ago, Ramsdale would admit he stands no competition to Yan Sommer's European stature.
In comparison to Ramsdale's mere European appearances, Sommer has consistently been a big game performer wherever he has played. And if a massive difference didn't exist already, Sommer just widened the gap with the recent Champions League run with Inter.
Delivering some of the best UCL displays of all time, with one against Barcelona in the semis, Sommer stood vital in Inter's UCL run till the Finals. While he didn't win it, Sommer has done enough to enjoy an upper hand for a transfer against almost every keeper in the world as of now.
Ultimately, that's what intrigues Ramsdale's entourage given the Saint enjoys just a single advantage over Sommer in terms of the years he can offer to Galatasaray. But will it be enough to tempt the Turkish giants? Chances are less, but we can at least hope for a miracle.
