Andy Goldstein backs Aaron Ramsdale's abilities to start in both Europa League finalists, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspurs' lineup.
Like it or not, Galatasaray's recent action steps for Aaron Ramsdale's transfer have outplayed Southampton's plans perfectly. To the extent that the Saints fans, once happily apprehensive of the move, hope for it not to happen now.
But for the St. Mary's faithful, already in fear of losing their biggest superstar, a fresh praise for Ramsdale has come to rub salt in their wounds.
TalkSport host showers massive Europa League praise on Aaron Ramsdale
Interestingly, talkSport presenter Andy Goldstein believes the 27-year-old can be a guaranteed starter in almost all the big English clubs. Still, the impressive part is he backs Ramsdale to begin in the goal for both, Man United and Tottenham, the two sides which contested in the Europa League Final this season.
As quoted by the Daily Echo, Goldstein talked of Ramsdale's chances in the Big Six, saying: "In no particular order, my club could (Man United), honestly I would rather have Aaron Ramsdale than Andre Onana. Spurs, I think he’s better than Guglielmo Vicario."
Honestly, to most of St. Mary's, this Ramsdale comment would hardly surprise fans who have grown tired of knowing their keeper's heroics all season long. But, even then, it's quite an interesting statement if one puts it in perspective.
That's because, while Ramsdale missed European competitions completely last season, the keeper has had rare performances to boast of his mettle there.
Surprisingly, Ramsdale has just featured in a single Champions League matchday so far in his career, while having three appearances with Arsenal in the Europa League. And that's why, being showered with the merit of starting in either of the Europa finalists this season would surely add value to his impressive CV.
Nonetheless, for now, Ramsdale is far from achieving any of those dreams as the keeper nears an exit from the Top 5 European Leagues.
Yet, you never know if by chance a Champions League knockout gig or a Europa League heavyweight comes calling for him. At least, Ramsdale fans and Southampton will hope so.
