Arsenal's former midfield great Cesc Fabregas has decided to go all-out to bring Southampton's shortlisted target Lennon Miller to Italian football.

As usual, the January market ran midway through the league campaign but Southampton were more than halfway outside of the Premier League by then, itself. Being fully aware of the circumstances at hand, the Saints utilized the whole month to plan more for the summer market but they must be wondering if diving into the Scottish talent pool actually did them any good.

Everything began with their desire for Lennon Miller and since then, they are playing rumour merry-go-rounds with the likes of Hearts duo Lawrence Shankland and James Penrice. Last but not the least, Max Johnston who never let the St. Mary's atmosphere dictate his mind, even once.

That being said, Southampton have gone three recruitment misses out of four and the remaining first one has now got an Arsenal reason to say, no thanks, to any optimistic Saints fan out there.

According to a report from the Scottish Sun, Miller has piqued the interest of Gunners legend Cesc Fabregas who is unwilling to go empty handed on the £4.5m deal.

Miller's Southampton path filled with tempting Fabregas reasons

Sorry to say, but Miller turning down his approach may need a bucket-full of rejecting reasons. Because the Fabregas-led Como team holds the coveted first division tag and infact, they might be on their way to assert their Italian top-table dominance in a few years.

Even if one takes that one out of question, his Arsenal stature and standing in world football can easily cover up for any lost transfer ground, which aren't any in this case.

Overall, Southampton must drop their Miller ambition at this point of time and instead spend their energy and efforts on the defensive areas. As for the midfield, using up a few loan slots can work quite well due to the convenience of having a few star studded names there, in respect to the Championship standards.
