Enzo Maresca left Southampton fans with a frustrating Championship trophy taste two years back, and now one of his advantages is shown as superior to Will Still.
While Southampton have nothing except than zero progress to call for since 2023, Big-Six outfit Chelsea have shaped and scaled their Premier League image, for their greater good. They began to address their act with former Saint Mauricio Pochettino's mentoring and then hired a coach who had put brakes on Southampton's Championship trophy march.
Yes, Enzo Maresca and even if he never tops the podium for the English first-division title, he will be celebrated for having walked over the country's second-tier league.
However, a manager can only max out his squad's capabilities, but at the same time can't assert much tweaking voice over it. There, it's either a good lineup luck falling for the coach or a proper stress in preparing a winning bill with the players at hand.
At Chelsea, Southampton fans know Maresca's position in transfers. But Leicester City didn't let him stay blurred about his best lineup, and these arguments are being spun to show what Will Still was refused at Saints.
Opposite Saints scenario was worse than Will Still's present one
As quoted by the Daily Echo, Jobi McAnuff elaborated: "We all knew [Youri] Tielemans was going to go, and [James] Maddison, and they got it done early. Yes, they might have taken a few quid less."
Largely, it's right to sympathise with Still but Southampton could also have done the above but finished yards short of this fantastic looking current unit.
How come? Just read McAnuff's perception on accepting lesser offers and being more negotiation friendly, which may have left the Saints with a choice among star signings like Azaz and Fellows, not both.
If they attempted adjusting paychecks on two additions, then who knows all of their recruits might have been strangers at the Championship standard.
