Southampton have taken the last and the better laugh over Middlesbrough fans by swooping for Finn Azaz without spilling control of Cameron Archer.
Southampton fans may be divided on this point, but there are moments of payback in football. The whole Championship knows Saints let Stoke City make a mockery of them, and two nights back the two teams were again indulged in their respective three-goal contests.
The only separating part was Southampton scored thrice without getting hit even once, and Stoke City went the opposite lane to the scoreboard.
As the goals rained for Southampton, Cameron Archer also quenched his scoring thirst. That also elated the ones who opted not to see the team getting battered in an away territory, and then the home fans taunting them.
Rather, the Saints have got a commendable Archer show to brag in front of the Middlesbrough fans, who have become quite overconfident having Finn Azaz on their books.
Southampton secured Azaz without giving away Archer in exchange
Now, that ace of theirs is gone and into Southampton's table. Plus, did I say, without bowing to their exorbitant Archer wants?
Hearing from Fabrizio Romano himself, his words were: "Southampton have agreed deal to sign Finn Azaz as new striker for £12m fixed fee and £3m add-ons."
Cooling down the excitement a little, Azaz appears as a deal Southampton may have struck at the perfect moment. Hasn't missed football for months like any June or July signing does, and ticking him below the record additions lists is a pricing masterstroke.
Not minding wherever he plays in the final third, but the St. Mary's will insist on Azaz rounding the balls past the goal-line. When will he get to business, then, is Still's responsibility and let's give the 24-year-old the best wishes to succeed here for a good duration.
