Southampton is still deliberating over the future of Tonda Eckert as their head coach.
Previously the winner of three Championship Manager of the Month accolades, the German's reputation has now been dragged through the mud, as he admitted to spying on opposition teams, including Middlesbrough, in the build-up to the Championship playoff semi finals.
Ultimately, while some might well sympathise with the 33-year-old, the correct decision, at the end of the day, will be to part ways, so the dark cloud of Spygate can be somewhat lifted.
The question is: who should Southampton look to replace the controversial head coach with? Plenty of rumours are already in the air as to what route the Saints will go down, to make a very big next appointment.
The managers who could replace Eckert
The likes of Ralph Hasenhuttl always get a mention when a sacking occurs on the South Coast, as the Austrian - who used to manage Southampton in the top-flight - could act as a unifying presence during testing times.
But, he isn't seen as a frontrunner, more just a name the Southampton faithful would love to see return, to bring together a fractured fanbase.
Scott Parker is being incessantly mentioned, and with his Championship promotion track record of three promotions with three separate teams, it isn't the worst shout. With West Ham United also sticking by Nuno Espirito Santo, the door has shut for Parker to retreat to the Hammers.
There have even been left-field shouts of Liam Rosenior and Sean Dyche, but instead of going with an instantly recognisable, seasoned manager of the game, the Saints could be bold with their Eckert successor.
Indeed, the reins might well be handed to Adam Lallana, with the 38-year-old a well-thought-of figure at St. Mary's in coaching circles, and just the sort of universally loved personality the South Coast club needs right now to get out of troubled waters.
Could the Saints give Lallana the managerial reins?
He would also fit the mould of Eckert, as the 33-year-old was bumped up to the main managerial reins, after impressing in the youth set-up at the club.
He has shown signs of promise as the Saints' U21s manager himself, since being handed the permanent gig in January, with five wins collected from 11 Premier League 2 matches.
With a depleted squad next season a very real possibility, it could be a genius move to gift Lallana his first main managerial job, as he has already worked with the promising youngsters coming through, who might well be thrust into the first team spotlight to add to the numbers.
Praised recently by ex-Saints teammate Bradley Wright-Phillips for possessing "so much knowledge" about the game, this has all the potential makings of being an inspired appointment, if the Southampton hierarchy is willing to be risky in the face of adversity.
After all, if anyone is going to want to drag the South Coast club out of the mire of a four-point deduction, it would be Lallana, who made a colossal 283 appearances for the Saints over two spells.
He also had a glowing appraisal from Russell Martin when the two crossed paths at St. Mary's during the latter stages of Lallana's playing career, with Martin noting that he was "brilliant" in terms of leadership.
Right now, Southampton is desperately crying out for vocal leaders, and so if Eckert is kicked out the door, the one-time silky playmaker, turned charismatic coach, should be considered for the vacancy.
