Danny Röhl primed to invite Southampton legend after landing new job

Danny Röhl has acquired the locker room keys at Rangers, and now can invite a respectable former Southampton player there.

Will Still will complete six months as a Southampton boss in November, and expectedly he would get to celebrate that occasion at St. Mary's itself. Firstly, because hanging amongst dismal finishers is not on Still and secondly, his Southampton chair just got saved from two managerial dangers.

For a good number of weeks, Danny Röhl and Sean Dyche were touted as Southampton's season rescuing plans if Still's men lost their way in the Championship. The latter will now be busy catching up with his Nottingham Forest dressing room and Röhl will also be pacing through similar actions at Rangers.

Their transfer windows debuts in their new environments will come during January, yet Röhl can invite one Southampton icon over to his roster. According to a report from the Scottish Sun, that name might be of ex-Saints skipper Steven Davis.

Ex-Saints midfielder Steven Davis can join hands with Danny Röhl

For years, he assumed the midfield pivot duties for Southampton but it's a pity that his career retirement didn't came at St. Mary's. One can call it the downside of being a legend in two places.

These days, Davis is often involved in commenting on Rangers and their tactical side of affairs. He offered the wisest take in the interests of former promotion winning Saint Russell Martin, but Martin couldn't make the most of it.

Here, Davis can work in Röhl's closer circles instead of giving him tips from distance, which is quite an optimistic thought. Even if it isn't, Rangers will pray that those two start turning the club's calendars with three points and nothing else.

Strangely, the Scottish outfit have also been plagued by excessive draws like Southampton, but let's see who grabs the winning hat quickly.
