Southampton fans were glad to get rid of Mario Lemina without witnessing his Wolves transfer-like chaos, but now he has aided the Saints in landing a difference-maker.
Last to last transfer window was the January one, where Southampton fans saw a Premier League exit and went thanking their luck instantly. It was former wonderkid Mario Lemina's Wolves bye which had plenty of room for consultations about how to make a departure sound like a great farewell.
To put it plainly, Lemina burnt his bridges at Wolves. Although he didn't spoil his image at St. Mary's, Saints fans just went with the notion that some worse rifts may have happened between him and the club too.
However, the now 32-year-old midfielder dropped a helping hand for Southampton in the ultimate week of the past summer window.
Lemina fueled Jelert's insistence on wearing the Southampton kit
How he did it, the answer is present in his current profile. Lemina is on Galatasaray's books, which recently updated one player's contract status with them, all due to Southampton arranging a deal.
We are pointing towards Elias Jelert, whom the board will be extremely glad with if they got someone of Bayern Munich's stature inquiring for him, just like they did with Jelert's former Galatasaray counterpart.
And naturally, it came down to a more resisting task for Jelert to stop himself from calling his elder mate Lemina for a Southampton know-it-all.
Lemina didn't disappoint there, with the Daily Echo quoting Jelert: "They both said very good [things] about the club. They said that it's a good place to develop and that it's a good club."
Previously, it was less typical of players seeking counselling from those who walked well on a decision the former has to make. Mateus Fernandes may very well have had a meaningful West Ham gossip with Kyle Walker-Peters, and that said, Jelert must let the Saints fans thank Lemina's assistance more and more in the future.
