Well, that's that. Kyle Walker-Peters is leaving Southampton, after Fabrizio Romano applied a 'Here We Go' label to his West Ham United transfer.

Kyle Walker-Peters is a Southampton legend. The defender who joined Southampton as a young starlet quickly became one of the most influential players of his generation, and embedded himself to the St Marys culture well.

Heck, he even stuck with Southampton throughout some of their worst years, and played in the Championship last season. Next season, though, he will remain in the Premier League, after he and his teammates failed to keep the Saints afloat this season.

Kyle Walker-Peters gets the "Here We Go" to join West Ham

According to Fabrizio Romano, Kyle Walker-Peters is certainly joining West Ham United now. The Italian journalist said that KWP will join the Hammers on a three-year deal, after some quick talks following the breakdown in his Besiktas move.

In his own words, Romano said: "Kyle Walker-Peters has agreed to join West Ham on a three-year deal, here we go! After the deal was off with Besiktas, the fullback has agreed to join West Ham and formal steps will follow soon. Quick talks as @ExWHUEmployee called and deal until June 2028."

Those infamous three words, "Here We Go" mean that a transfer is as good as happened. Now all that's pending is the announcement.

It was bound to happen, but this hurts Southampton fans

Yeah, this is a bittersweet moment for Southampton fans. The full-back is one of the best defenders in Southampton's history. He's certainly the best of this century.

KWP was always bound to leave Southampton at some point. This was the feeling at the back of Southampton fans' minds - but it was at the back for a reason.

Nobody really wanted to believe that Walker-Peters was going to leave. Who knows? It may have been different if the Saints pulled off a miracle by securing their place in the Premier League next season.

That didn't happen, though, despite KWP's best efforts. Now, he gets his deserved Premier League rebirth, and Southampton fans will cheer him on from afar.
