Fabrizio Romano issues update on Endrick to Southampton transfer
By Kian Long
Fabrizio Romano has now provided his much anticipated update on the Endrick so Southampton transfer links. The dream is over before it began.
Yesterday, news broke that Endrick was linked to a shocking Southampton transfer. While the transfer was only believed to be a temporary loan, considering the wonder-kid's calibre, it was a surprise to see Endrick linked to Southampton.
At the time, we claimed it was difficult to believe. Indeed, there was no reason to raise hopes and we were right to remain cautious about the links until any concrete moves were made.
This is because no concrete moves are expected to be made.
Fabrizio Romano issues update on Endrick to Southampton transfer
The trusted transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has posted to X (formerly Twitter), claiming that Real Madrid do not plan to loan out Endrick. Romano also claimed that any English reports linking Endrick to Southampton are completely untrue.
In his own words, Fabrizio Romano said: "Real Madrid have not activated any plan to loan out Endrick in January and Endrick is not planning to leave. Reports from England about Southampton loan move are not true at all."
Those transfer links were ambitious, to say the least. It was always completely unlikely that Southampton would sign Endrick, even on loan.
Endrick is capable of playing in the UEFA Champions League and this is very much his ambition going forward. Therefore, to make the giant leap from Real Madrid to Southampton would be illogical.
From a game-time perspective, there is no denying that Endrick would have made the Southampton lineup. In fact, it feels silly to even say that because "duh" is ringing through my head.
However, the quality of game-time is what's important here. For both Real Madrid and Endrick's sake, he would've been better loaned to a Champions League club, or Europa League at minimum.
Nevertheless, loaning out Endrick is not considered by Real Madrid. But hey, it was fun while it lasted!
