A fortnight ago, Brighton ran riot over Southampton, imposing a 4-0 scoreline. Surprising, it may seem, boss Juric was happy to avoid a more shameful result than this.
A provoking thought, still, don't you think Southampton fans have been quite easy with the club's disappointing results? After all, just 3 points in the last 10 games can't be defended simply.
But say it the fans excessively overlove for St. Mary's, they have been doing everything possible to support them still.
And what do they get in return? Successive losses each by a different opponent all the time.
Still, all these defeats, an unwanted record race, everything made sense till this new mentality low. Know what, the Saints club's main motive for a fixture seems to be just escaping humiliation.
It's evidence? Well, it's hidden in the meanings of boss Ivan Juric's recent remarks.
Ivan Juric was glad despite 0-4 Brighton result
You would remember Brighton's Southampton thrashing from days before. Simply put, the 4-0 scoreline against the Saints portrayed it all for Juric's side put in their performance at St. Mary's.
Now, naturally, one would expect Juric to have accepted their sloppy display. Honestly, he did accept, but it's the manager's added remarks that gather questioning.
Recently, as quoted by the Daily Echo, Juric said: "We are not bad in the defensive way. And the last two games, Brighton, especially, was a disaster in a defensive way. Nobody was there in the defense."
While the statement directly means Juric defending his side overly, it also hints at Juric's relief that despite no defenders, he just lost 0-4 to Brighton.
Just say, what can be expected from a side that is still ok being four-nil humiliated at home? You know what, serious changes are needed now. And it all starts with management.
Admit it or not, it's the manager's mentality and thoughts that shape everything. And currently, under Juric, Southampton lacks this big time.
Hoping that the club recognizes this and a change in office takes place soon.
